Cast iron does not begin with a nonstick surface. It must go through a process, better known as “seasoning”.  This can be accomplished by oiling and baking with it. When the black shiny sheen is gone, then you know that it has a non – stick surface. The process of “seasoning” will need repeated from time to time, depending upon the amount of baking that it has endured.  It is important to remember that if a cast iron bundt pan is not washed thoroughly, it will become crusty and will not be good for baking. It is also imperative to remember that after washing, it must be efficiently dried; if not, it will rust.
